FIGHTING TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS, DUI ARRESTS AND DMV CHALLENGES

No one likes getting a traffic ticket, and we all like even less the long process of standing in line to submit documents to the court or talk to a judge. Even worse, if your license has been suspended, you might have difficulty getting to the court to mount your defense. The penalties for driving on a suspended license are probably not worth the risk. People who have been cited for a traffic infraction should hire a traffic lawyer so that they can get on with the day-to-day business of living their lives.

I am defense lawyer Chris W. Blaylock, and I represent drivers who face legal troubles associated with traffic violations, driving crimes and related issues, including:

  • Tickets for speeding, illegal lane changes and reckless driving
  • Tickets for other moving violations, including disobeying a traffic signal, red light or stop sign
  • Citations for misusing the car pool lane
  • Driver’s license suspension or revocation
  • Driving with a suspended driver’s license
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI)/driving while intoxicated (DWI)

I have experience fighting all types of traffic tickets and DUI charges for clients. I aggressively handle cases involving speeding tickets, suspended licenses, traffic points on driving records, and drunk driving stops. I will aggressively attack your citation or arrest. I will fight to have your ticket thrown out or your DUI case dismissed. I will represent you before the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in hearings affecting your driving privileges for any reason. How Do You Get A Ticket Thrown Out?

As your attorney, I will examine the details of the stop and citation. It is not uncommon for police officers to practice questionable tactics when citing an individual. This can include issuing a speeding ticket without radar gun data or guessing at an infraction. Through careful investigation, I will find the inconsistencies and fight to ensure that your rights are protected. This allows clients to focus on their employment, families and hobbies.

What Happens If I Ignore My Ticket?

You should never ignore a ticket, even if you felt is was unfair, or even if you felt it was given to you by mistake. Ignoring the ticket only makes the problem worse by increasing the fine and adding additional penalties. If you fail to appear in court on your court date and fail to pay your fine, your driver’s license will likely be suspended. You could even be charged with a separate crime referred to as “Failure to Appear.”

While ignoring the problem leaves you with no options, addressing it directly might give you more options than you expected to have. You may be able to claim financial hardship and have the fine reduced or dismissed. You may be able to have the ticket reduced simply by showing up to contest it (or having a lawyer do so on your behalf). You could even successfully have it thrown out if you or your attorney make a compelling argument.

While it does take time and hassle to respond to your traffic ticket, ignoring it is not a reasonable option. It simply isn’t worth the consequences.

DUI Charges Are Much More Than A Traffic Violation — A Serious Criminal Conviction Can Be Damaging For Years

California law carries some of the harshest penalties for DUI offenses in the country. These laws are intended to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities resulting from drunk driving. A DUI arrest in California has two components: the criminal process, which can result in fines and even jail time, and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) process, which can result in license suspension.

Department Of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Issues

Often, DMV matters are closely intertwined with other legal concerns such as drug charges that arise from a traffic stop or personal injury issues associated with a car accident.
